Obituary of JOSEPH SBRIZZI

Joseph Sbrizzi, 96, a lifelong Stamford resident, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2015. Born on November 26, 1918, the son of the late James and Angelina Sbrizzi. Joseph was a Veteran of WWII having served in the US Army for 4 years and was stationed in Okinawa. He was the President of Jewel Sheen Coating, Inc. of Long Island City, NY. He earned a scholarship to Juillard School of Music and was a passionate musician and trumpet player during The Big Band Era. An avid pigeon flyer, Joseph was a member of The Stamford Pigeon Club and also a member of the Jewish Center of Stamford. He is survived by his wife, Rita (Canelli) Sbrizzi, his son James Sbrizzi and his wife Keri, his daughter Jo-Ann Sbrizzi, his grandchildren Joseph, Nicole, and James and one great grandson, Rowan.. He is predeceased by his brother, Michael Sbrizzi and sisters, Phyllis Grimaldi and Mary Ann Sbrizzi. There are no calling hours. Entombment will take place in private. Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of the Lacerenza Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford.
