Obituary of THOMAS J. MARDI SR.

Thomas James Mardi Sr., 79, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Stamford Hospital on April 9, 2015. He was born on July 27, 1935 in Stamford to the late Peter and Jennie (DeSalvo) Mardi. Tommy was married to the love of his life Patricia (Uva) Mardi. He was born and raised n Stamford and graduated from Stamford High School and served in the U.S. Army. Tommy was a Fireman with the City of Stamford for over 45 years. In addition to his wife Patty, he is survived by his two children Jennifer and Peter also of Stamford, his sister-in-law Dorothy (Uva) Candito, his aunt Rosalie Pironto and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He leaves many friends who adored him and his gracious smile. Tommy lit the room up the minute he walked in. He was often found at the Elks Club and the Knights of Columbus, making people laugh. In addition to his parents, he's predeceased by his son Thomas James Jr., his in-laws Thomas and Antoinette Uva, his brother-in-laws Val Candito and Joseph Uva, and a host of aunts and uncles. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 14 at 11:00 AM at St. Cecilia's Church, 1184 Newfield Avenue, Stamford. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Darien, CT. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 13 from 3:00 - 7:00 PM at the Lacerenza Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford. The family would like to thank the amazing nurses at Stamford Hospitals Main 4S and the doctors and nurses in ICU.
