Obituary of DONALD H. DIOT

Donald H. Diot, 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 12, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 3, 1932, in Bronx, New York. Don is predeceased by his parents, Henry Diot and Sarah Fitzpatrick Diot, the love of his life, Theresa Janet Diot, and his brother and sister, Roger Diot and Lorraine Diot. Don was raised in Lynbrook, NY and graduated from Villanova University with a B.S in Economics. Upon graduation, he attended Officer Candidate School and entered the United States Navy as a Lieutenant and served on the USS Ingersoll and the USS Pillsbury as a Gunnery Officer during the Korean conflict. In 1964 he moved to Stamford and raised his seven children. He is survived by his children: Michelle Sotire (Michael), Lisa Thurm (Vincent), Michael Diot (Toni Jane), Ann Marie Kynoch (Kevin), Matthew Diot (Roxanne), Mary Frances Huntsman, and Mark Diot (Rebecca). He is also survived by 17 grandchildren: Michael Sotire, Christopher Sotire, Nicholas Sotire, David Sotire, MarcelleThurm, Brian Thurm, Amanda Diot, Julia Diot, Matthew Kynoch, Lucas Kynoch, River Kynoch, Dylan Diot, Hayley Diot, Tyler Huntsman, Nicole Huntsman, Lindsay Diot and Devin Diot. Also survived by his brother Harold Diot (Suzie) and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be private. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. Maurice Church, 358 Glenbrook Road, Stamford, CT 06906. Arrangements were made under the direction of Lacerenza Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Marine Corps, League #910, 75 Old Colony Road, Stamford, CT 06907.
