Obituary of JOSEPH R. D'AGOSTINO
Joseph R. D'Agostino, Sr., 92, a lifelong Stamford resident passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 15, 1922, the son of the late Rafael and Mary (Ganino) D'Agostino.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Concetta "Connie" (Totilo) D'Agostino; his sons, Ralph D'Agostino and his wife Donna, Jeffrey D'Agostino and his wife Gerarda "Dina", Joseph D'Agostino, Jr. and his wife Caroline; his sister, Mildred Galasso; grandchildren, James, Justin, Melissa, Arianna, Chelsea, and Rebecca; and great-granddaughters, Charlotte and Chloe. He is predeceased by his sister, Rose Popp.
Joseph was a decorated U.S. Navy World War II veteran, serving 27 months at sea, having been a part of one of the first troops to occupy Japan, and having participated in the campaign of the Philippines, Marshall Island, Tinian, Saipan, and Iwo Jima. He was the owner and operator of Josephs Decorating Studio, formerly of Stamford for 35 years.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church,37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Darien, CT.
