Obituary of MARY L. BAFUNDI

Mary L. Bafundi, 95, passed away on August 7, 2014. She was born n Stamford, CT on January 6, 1919 to the late Michael and Concetta Cerreta Geronimo. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her step-father Raphael Cherchi, her husband Vincent (Jimmy) Bafundi; daughter Geri Ambruso Santopietro; brothers James Geronimo, Bernard Geronimo and sister Margaret O'Karma. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Zeiss, granddaughters Tammy McKinnon and husband Robert, Tina Dahms and husband Dylan; four great grandchildren, Christian, Kate, Claire and Carlin and by nieces and nephews as well as her dear friend Molly Orgera. In her earlier years, while caring for her family, she worked at various part time jobs. She was employed for a number of years at the GTE Crop cafeteria in Stamford and always declared it to be her favorite job. In her retirement years she enjoyed swimming and sunsets at Cummings beach, day tripping and playing cards with her friends. Her greatest delight was time spent with her great grandchildren. She was a member of the Columbiettes and the last surviving member of the HI-HO girls, a group of lifelong friends from the West Side who met weekly at the old Italian Center on South Street. In liue of flowers the family requests that donations be made in her honor to VITAS Hospice, 99 Hawley Lane, Suite 1204, Stratford, CT 06614. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford. There are no calling hours and burial will be private.
