Obituary of PATSY J. FABRICATORE SR.

Patsy J. Fabricatore, 89 years old, died peacefully on July 4th, following a brief illness. He passed to his next life at home, surrounded with love with his family and friends at his bed side. A native of Stamford, he was born on July 14, 1924 of the late Carmella (Zaffino) and Angelo Fabricatore. He was the oldest of six children. Patsy was predeceased by his wife Jennie (Mancini) Fabricatore in 1982. He is survived by 2 sons, Patsy Jr (Nadine), Perry A (Rosanne) and his daughter Deborah (Debbie) DeLuca. He was the proud grandfather of Jennifer Preiss (Donny), Alison Behm( Martin), Perry Jr. (PJ), Thomas, Annalise, Anthony, and Nathanial Fabricatore and great grandchildren Madison and Braden Preiss. He was pleased to know that a third great grandchild will be born in September. Other survivors include his brother Nicholas Fabricatore (Sharon) and sister Marie Porcheddu, and sister-in-laws, Mary Ellen Fabricatore and Carole Mancini. He was also loved by many cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents and in-laws, he was predeceased, by brothers: Dominick, Joseph, and Egidio In 1996 he entered into a domestic relationship with his “sweetheart” Rosalyn (Rose) Aulenti Arena. As his health diminished, she became his primary caretaker. Patsy took an active role in the lives of Rosalyn’s children and grandchildren, and he became a member of her family as well. A sheet metal worker, he worked for Pomeroy Inc. and Century Fan Co. Following retirement, he worked as a school crossing guard, employed by the Stamford Police Dept. His love for the game of baseball took him out to the fields, where he umpired for Stamford Little League, City of Stamford Parks and Rec. League and the A.S.A. Stamford Softball Association. He called it a “labor of love”, and he was loved and respected by his fellow umpires and the players as well. During WWII he served in the U.S Army- Company D 12th Infantry Regiment. He was awarded the Bronze star for meritorious achievement against the armed enemy in the Asiatic Pacific Theater of Operations. He was honorably discharged in January of 1946. An avid bowler, he bowled for 25 years with the Father and Son league and also served as its president. He also bowled with the Man and Boy league, Sacred Heart church league, Stamford City league, and Industrial league. Born a sportsman, he played baseball with the Stamford Tigers, Holy Name Athletic Club and Al-Ken Florists. He also played football for several local teams in Stamford. In January, 1996, he was honored by The Stamford Old Timers Association. Patsy was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St Augustine Council #41, Stamford Softball Umpires Association, V.F.W. Post 6933 of Noroton CT, and American Legion Post #3 in Stamford Family and friends may call at the Lacerenza Funeral Home on Tuesday July 8th, from 4 to 8pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be said at Sacred Heart Church on Wednesday July 9th at 9 am. Both facilities are located on Schuyler Ave. in Stamford.
