Obituary of DANTE A. BUZZEO
It is with great sadness that we mourn the loss of our beloved Dante Anthony Buzzeo (Zaza'), who died on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at Stamford Hospital after a brief illness that he fought valiantly, with his loving sisters by his side. Zaza' was born on November 6, 1941 in Settefrati, Italy, the firstborn son of the late Michele Alborio & Giannetta Antonucci Buzzeo. Zaza' immigrated to the United States in 1955 and immediately began working as an apprentice to a stone mason, eventually becoming a master mason himself. He was instrumental in the building of Stamford as it looks today. After his retirement, he dedicated his life to scholarly pursuits, earning both his high school diploma and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Connecticut. His heart was never far from his beloved Settefrati, and he returned there every summer to spend months in his boyhood home. He is survived by his three sisters and brothers-in-law: Grace Ginsburg (Barton), Lillian Tropea (Ferdinando), and Elsa Gentile (Alfredo), and the greatest joy of his life, his five nieces and nephews: Joseph Tropea, Jessica Ginsburg, Stefanie Tropea, Melissa Ginsburg, & Michael Gentile, along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and longtime friends. Zaza' was a pillar in Stamford's Settefratese community, and he will be dearly missed.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church,3 7 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Darien, CT.
