NANCY MARTINELLI

Obituary of NANCY HELEN MARTINELLI

Nancy Helen Nobile was born in Long Island, New York to Frank and Josephine (Tedesco) Nobile on October 9, 1914. She was the second of what would eventually become a family of seven daughters. The Nobile sisters would become the first American born generation of this strong, closely knit Italian family. Nancy joins her sisters Florence McDonough, Frances Hansen, Josephine Shoztic, and Petrina Bisacca, as well as her beloved husband of 36 years, Leonard Louis Martinelli (12/25/1910 to 07/02/1975). Nancy grew up in Stamford. After graduating from high school, and completing some college coursework, she married Leonard Louis Martinelli on April 10, 1939. First born Gail was soon followed by Donald, and after their children were grown, Nancy returned to the workforce. She worked as a secretary for the Stamford Board of Education, as well as for the Recreation Department, and she continued to work well into her 80’s. Gail married Steven Myers and they have two daughters, Melissa and Stephanie. Melissa, her husband Marek Falkowski, and their 2 girls, Sophia and Isabella, live in Colchester, CT.They were the first of the grandchildren to make Nancy a proud great grandmother. Stephanie married Adrian Crocket, and made Nancy a great grandmother for the third time with the birth of their first child, Madeleine. They live in New York City. Nancy’s son Donald married Karen (Tatano) and they live in Greenwich, CT. They also have two children, Christopher and Elysabeth. In 2005, Nancy moved from her lifelong home of Stamford to a new condominium upstate. She thoroughly enjoyed living in Manchester, which not only allowed her to live closer to her daughter, but also to her growing group of great grandchildren. Nancy continued to live her life as she had always loved to do, independent and alone in her own home to the very end. Nancy also leaves with us here 2 of her younger sisters, Lena Valeri of Southbury, CT, and Pauline McKale of Westport, CT, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear, faithful, loving, and lifelong friends. Nancy passed away peacefully in her own home on June 7, 2014. She will be missed by us all. Calling hourswill be at Lacerenza’s Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT on June 12, 2014 from 10:30 a.m. until 12 noon. A Catholic blessing will follow the viewing, and a procession will travel from Lacerenza’s to Nancy’s chosen burial site in the Crestview Section at Fairfield Memorial Park.
