Obituary of JAMES SAPIA
James Sapia, 82, a resident of Hamden, CT passed away on March 31, 2014. Born on November 25, 1931 in Stamford, the son of the late Alfonso and Josephine (Gellici) Sapia.
He is survived by his beloved sisters, Anna Ofiero of Darien, CT, Lucy Sapia of Rockyhill, CT and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers Frank Sapia, Joseph Sapia, Anthony Sapia and sisters, Rose Giglio, Katherine Sapia, Mary Sapia, Frances Ambruoso, and Jennie Smith.
James served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Henry-Richards in Stamford and Hamden for many years. James enjoyed playing softball, was an avid New York Giants fan and a semi New York Yankee fan.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford. Interment will take place in private. Relatives and friends may call at the Lacerenza Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford on Friday, April 11, 2014 from 9:00 - 10:00 AM.
