Obituary of JOSEPH L. CONTI

Joseph L. Conti Sr, 87, of Stamford, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, February 10, 2014 at his home. He was born on October 5, 1926 in Rochester, PA to the late Louis and Virginia Conti and they moved to Stamford when he was 9. Joe was a WWII veteran, having joined the Navy when he was 17 and served aboard the U.S.S. Alabama in the Pacific. Upon his honorable discharge, Joe resumed his studies in Stamford at J.M. Wright Technical School. He established his own machine shop in Stamford specializing in ultra-precision work and was called upon for many aerospace projects for NASA, including work on the first space shuttle. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Marie M. Conti, his daughter, Virginia Lorenzo and her husband Alan and grandson Andy, his sons, Frank Conti and his wife Gail and grandsons Joey and Frankie, Joseph Conti Jr. and his wife Amanda and granddaughters Tessa and Sydney and grandson Zachary, his daughter-in-law Kari Conti-Hain and her husband Don and granddaughters Marlaina and Olivia, and loving sister Josephine Simonelli. Joe was predeceased by his son Louis Conti and sisters Angelena Cavaliero and Dorthy Jean Rotelli. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Leos Parish on 24 Roxbury Rd, Stamford, on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 11:30 AM.
