Obituary of CORINNE BOCCUZZI

Corinne Boccuzzi, 85, a lifelong resident of Stamford, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017. Her son, Bennett, and daughters, Rosemary and Joanne, were at her side at Joanne's home in Maryland. She was predeceased by her son, Stephen in July, 2013. Born February 27, 1931 to Rosa (Del Vaglio) and Benigno Matteis, she was the only sister of Anthony, John and Jimmy (Vincent) Matteis. Raised on the west side of Stamford, she met and married her first boyfriend, Ralph. They celebrated 65 years of marriage before his passing in June, 2016. Corinne worked as a Nursing Assistant at St. Joseph’s Hospital for over 40 years. She also taught Italian at Mother of God Academy for many years. Her appreciation and commitment to higher education inspired her to earn an Associate’s Degree at the age of 56. Corinne enjoyed travel, especially cruises, as well as day trips to area casinos. She was a loving Nani to her 11 grandchildren, Lori, Ann Marie, Stephanie, Matthew, Bradley, Nicholas, Thomas, Gianna, Nadia, Bridget and Andrew. She was especially fond of her great grandson, Gregory Stephen. Summers at “Camp Nani” will be a precious memory cherished by all of them. Family will receive relatives and friends at the Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Avenue in Stamford, on Sunday, January 29, from 3pm to 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 30, 2017 at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford. Entombment will follow at St. John R.C.Cemetery in Darien, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT, 06902.
