Obituary of JOE CALANDRELLI
Joe Calandrelli, 92, passed away on New Year's Day after a long illness.
He is survived by his son Joe (Beth) Calandrelli of Stamford and daughter Sandra (Robert) Hepp of Davidson,NC, grandchildren Lisa (Dan) Miroballi, Erica (Young) Han, Joe (Karen) Calandrelli, Megan (Ben) Hovis, and Kristen Calandrelli , brother John (Judy) Calandrelli and sister Aida "Edi" Calandrelli-Longo. He is also survived by 8 beautiful great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph & Mary Esposito Calandrelli, sister Augusta (Frank) Ciano, and brothers Emilio and Eugene Calandrelli.Joe was born and raised in Stamford. He served in combat during World War II with the 19th Mechanized Cavalry in Germany. He worked for 42 years as a machinist and quality technician for Pitney Bowes, as well as over 30 years as a bartender at the Italian Center of Stamford. Joe is probably most well known for his talent and love of ballroom dancing. He also loved the beach, where he was well known at Cummings Beach, and spending time enjoying Cove Island Park.His greatest love was his time with his family, who adored him beyond words. His big smile, kindness, generosity, and special ability to connect with everyone he met will be sadly missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 10:30am at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Darien, CT. Relatives and friends may call at the Lacerenza Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT on Friday, January 6, 2017 from 4:00-8:00PM.
