Obituary of FRANK C. TACCONE
Frank C. Taccone passed away on Saturday, November 5th, 2016.
The son of Antonio Taccone and Pauline Barbaro, Frank was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, surrounded by his older brother, Pat, and his sisters, Marie, Rosemarie, and Vicki. He acquired a deep love for art from his father, a professional photographer who spent long hours in the dark room, teaching his son the secrets of the trade.
At the age of eighteen, Frank proudly joined the war effort, and served as a Photographer in the Philippines and Japan. When the war ended, he immediately went to work as at Commercial Studios in the heart of New York City, moving from the ranks of errand boy to staff artist. Around that time he met and married Sybil Ramirez Taccone, who can safely be considered the love of his life, and the two embarked upon having a family.
Frank spent his entire professional career at Commercial Studios, spanning more than forty years, eventually becoming Chief Managing Partner and Owner. To his mastery of photography he added oil painting, eventually marrying the two into a hybrid form. He worked almost every single day until just before he died, leaving an impressive body of work.
In addition to Sybil, Frank is survived by his children: Anthony, Cristina, and John, and their families. They all loved him as fiercely as he loved them. He died peacefully at home, on his 92nd birthday.
Services will be held at the the Lacerenza Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, on Thursday, November 10th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Interment will take place in private.
