Obituary of ANGELO V. LUCIA
Angelo V. Lucia, a longtime resident of Stamford, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2016 of natural causes. Angelo was born June 27, 1931 in Waterbury, CT. He was the son of the late Vito Donato and Catherine Lorusso Lucia. He was a 1949 graduate of Stamford High School. Angelo enlisted in the US Navy in January 1951.
He was an Aviation Machinist Mate third class on the USS Bennington. He was honorably discharged in November 1954 and was awarded the following medals: Good Conduct, National Defense, and Navy Occupation Service (EUR Clasp).
Angelo was employed at Teleregister, Bunker Ramo, and retired from Pitney Bowes. Upon his retirement he was employed part time by the City of Stamford as a voting machine mechanic. He was a participating member of the Holy Name Society at St. Bridget's of Ireland Church.
Angelo is survived by his daughter, Andrea Stramandinoli and his grandchildren, Michael Stramandinoli, Jr., Bianca Stramandinoli, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves behind his puppy, Lily.
In addition to his parents, Angelo was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Rita Stabile Lucia who passed away in December 2013 and his daughter, Annamaria Lucia who passed away May 2012. He is also predeceased by his siblings, Anna, Leonard, and Canio "Kelly" Lucia.
Friends may call at the Lacerenza Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT on Friday, August 26, 2016 from 9:00 - 10:30AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 11:00AM at St. Bridget's of Ireland Church, 278 Strawberry Hill Avenue, Stamford, CT. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Darien, CT.
Angelo lived his life to the fullest with his beloved wife and children.
