Obituary of GERALD JOSEPH PELLINI
Gerald “Jerry” Joseph Pellini, age 83, passed away Friday, May 6, 2016, surrounded by his children at the Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Jerry was born on September 26, 1932, the son of the late Ottavio Pellini and Delia Deluca Pellini. He was a lifelong resident of Stamford. Jerry is survived by his five children: Pamela Pellini of Stamford; Wendy Layman and her husband Robert of Bethel; Tracy Robushi and her husband Wayne of Stamford; Gary Pellini and his wife Michele of Stamford; and Jill Mailhot of Stamford. Jerry is predeceased by his son, Gerald A. Pellini, and his four siblings: Sylvio Pellini, Gloria Lohotsky, Dolores Fox and Madeline MacDonald. He will be fondly remembered by his twelve grandchildren, and countless nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.After graduating from the Stamford Trade School (now known as JM Wright Technical School), where he concentrated on carpentry, Jerry joined the United States Navy and served as a seaman during the Korean War. Jerry became a family man during his time with the United States Navy. Later, he left the service to raise his children with his former wife, Gail Johnson Pellini, also of Stamford, and worked as a self-employed carpenter in Stamford. He had great pride in his business and he deeply valued the genuine, life-long friendships that came as a result of his diligence. Over the years, his expertise and charismatic reputation led him to a career as a Building Inspector for the City of Stamford. Following his retirement, Jerry established GP Associates and continued his work in the construction field as a permit expediter and modular home contractor.Jerry was a sports enthusiast and avid golfer throughout his life. When he was not in the office or spending time with his family, he would be on the golf course with his friends. He loved to be with his family and friends, enjoying a good meal, listening to Frank Sinatra and telling a great story. He also enjoyed playing cards with his best buddies, and traveling around the world when in the Navy and later on in life.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 12, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT. Interment will follow at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, 25 Camp Avenue, Darien CT. Relatives and friends may call at the Lacerenza Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT, on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m.
