Obituary of Harold Trepp

Dr. Harold Michael “Mickey” Trepp passed away peacefully at his home, September 27, 2017. He was born October 14th 1930 at his parents’ home in Port Chester, NY, the son of the late William Nicholas Trepp and Margaret Caroline Murphy.  He was pre-deceased by his brother William Joseph, seven years his senior. Dr. Trepp graduated from St. Mary grammar school and Port Chester High School in 1948. He received his B.A. from the Catholic University of America in 1951 and his Dental degree from the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 1956. He then joined the U.S. Air Corps serving as a dentist at Langley Field in Hampton, VA.

In high school, college and in the service Mickey earned letters & awards in both basketball & baseball as a player and a coach. While at Catholic University in his final outing in baseball he pitched a no hitter and then a 2 hitter in the second game of a double header. After college he tried out for the Brooklyn Dodgers, but decided to go to dental school instead. After serving in the Air Force, he returned to Greenwich, CT and entered private practice with the late Drs. Robert Comeau and Charles Slagle and later Dr. Richard Miller for the next 35 years while residing in the Milbrook section of Greenwich. He was an active member of the Milbrook Club, Greenwich Dental Society, Rotary Club of Greenwich and was also a charter member of the Mianus River Boat & Yacht Club. While residing in Greenwich he continued in sports, bowling in the Fraternal league, playing softball in the Greenwich Recreation Senior league. His favorite pastimes were playing platform tennis in the winter and fishing on Long Island Sound aboard his “yacht”, Toothache. Due to numerous hip surgeries resulting from osteoarthritis, Mickey followed his doctor’s orders and retired in 1988, missing out on dentistry and his wonderful patients and friends. In 1989, the Greenwich Old Timers Athletic Association recognized him for his “outstanding athletic accomplishments on and off the field” due to his many Town Championship successes in numerous sports.

Dr. Trepp is survived by his special love and wife of 62 years, Judith Elaine Della Valle. The family he loved include his six children, Dr. Douglas Trepp and his wife Lisa, Kathleen, Christopher and his wife Mary, Gregory and his wife Ann-Marie, Steven and his wife Victoria, Cheryl and her husband Simon Moss. His 15 grandchildren are Andrew, Sarah, Nicholas and William Trepp of Greenwich; Ryan Trepp of Easton; Jack, Sam, Meg and Maya Trepp of Richmond, VA; Colten, Morgan and Connor Trepp of Darien; Robert, Edward and Conrad Moss of Greenwich.

Visiting hours will be held Monday, October 2nd, 4pm – 7pm at Lacerenza Funeral Home, located at 8 Schuyler Ave., Stamford. A Mass will be held Tuesday, October 3rd, 10am at St Bridget of Ireland Church located at 278 Strawberry Hill Avenue, Stamford followed by a burial at St Mary’s Cemetery on North Street in Greenwich.
