Obituary of Vincent John Galatro
Vincent John Galatro, surrounded by his loving family, was reunited with his beloved Rose on December 6, 2017, at Notre Dame Health and Rehabilitation Center, in Norwalk.
Born August 5, 1929 to John and Agnes (Rubino) Galatro, Vincent, “Vinnie” was a proud, lifelong resident of Stamford. He attended St. John’s School and Stamford High School. Beginning work at Rubino Brothers as a teen, he was an integral member of the management and growth of the business until his retirement.
Vinnie was a member of the Knights of Columbus and achieved the honor of 3rd Degree Knight. He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed many wonderful memories with family and friends at Sterling Farms, where he scored a Hole-In-One, and the many courses around his winter home in Delray Beach Florida. A lifelong Giants and Yankees fan, and he loved watching John Wayne and Clint Eastwood movies. Another of his passions was food, especially Italian food. Whether a meal made with love by his Rosie, or Fridays at Rao’s. Vinnie cherished his time at the table with family and friends.
His pride and joy were his grandchildren to whom he was always known as “Pop.” Pop was their #1 fan, and he loved attending their various recitals, concerts, football, lacrosse, baseball and softball games.
Vinnie is survived by his loving children; Janet and Bob DeLuca; Gail Galatro; John and Maggie (Walsh) Galatro, of Stamford, and Patricia and Jeffrey M. Mastrianna, of Wilton. His adored grandchildren; Jenna (DeLuca) and Sean Rosen of Stamford, Vincent John and Lindsay (Meyers) Galatro of Washington D.C., Kyle and John Galatro and Jeffrey P. Mastrianna of Stamford, Michael Mastrianna of Arlington, VA and Jack Mastrianna of Wilton; and two great-grandchildren; Bobby and Molly Rosen; as well as beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Rose Conetta Galatro in 2015, as well as his parents, infant brother Gennaro, and sister Tina Chimblo.
