Obituary of CODY R. THOMAS

Cody Randall Thomas, 27, of Stamford passed away on Saturday January 23, 2016 he was born in Stamford on January 8 1989 to Matthew G. Thomas and Anna Colaurcio Thomas. Cody was an English teacher at Staples High School in Westport, CT He is survived by loving mother Anna Colacurcio Thomas and father Matthew G. Thomas both of Stamford, his sister Callie-Rose Thomas, grandparents Vito and Rosa Ciminnelo Colacurcio also of Stamford, his Grandmother Janis Thomas Goodcuff of North Port Florida, by his Uncle Randall M Thomas (Carolyn) and Aunt Kathleen T. Giordano (Richard), his uncle Felice Colacurcio (Georgia), his cousins Annamaria Downey Gueco and Sean and Liam Downy of Seattle Washington, cousins Alex Giordano of Stamford, Racquel, Veronica and Tiffani Colacurico of Stamford, and cousins Logan and Lena Thomas of Trumbull, CT. He was predeceased by his Grandfather Louis J. Thomas and Grandfather Lawrence Goodcuff and Aunt Tracy Thomas of Stamford, and his Aunt Callista C. Downey of Seattle, Washington.Cody was a musician, poet, writer, mentor and altruistic educator. He was a graduate of New York Arthur Carter institute of Journalism, University and had a Masters of Education from The University of Connecticut Before joining the staff at Staples High School he was a writer for the Stamford Advocate, and editor of the rock journal Revolver. As co-advisor with the Staples High School newspaper Inklings he helped bring them to the Columbia Scholastic Press Association Convention where they received a gold medal award. His love of music led him to study music at NYU and play in many local bands after graduation. Cody was loved by friends, family and students alike, he was known to go above and beyond what was expected of him as a teacher he didn’t just make kids better students he made them better people. One of his students commented that he has molded too many minds and touched too many people to disappear anytime soon.Cody was an intelligent and articulate young man who’s drive to do better brought him many successes in life, he will be missed by family, friends, the students at Staples High School, his co-workers and all the people whose lives that were touched by his. Relatives and friends may call at the Lacerenza Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford on Thursday, January 28, 2016 from 2:00 - 8:00 PM. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, January 29, 2016 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park, Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford.
