Obituary of Marie A Pia

Marie A Pia, 89 passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, February 2, 2018.  Marie was born in Stamford, Connecticut and predeceased by her mother, Grace Thompson Merlino, her step father Frank Merlino and her brother Frank M. Merlino Jr. 

 

As a young woman, Marie began working at the Waterside Variety Store on Greenwich Avenue in Stamford.  She continued her career path with the State National Bank of Stamford as a bookkeeper, followed by many years of Customer Service for Sears, Setlowear and Bradlee’s before retiring in Derby. 

 

Some of her favorite memories include, working at the Palace Theater as an usherette, where she enjoyed the opportunity to view the movies for free and traveling to New York City for voice lessons.

 

Marie is survived by her two daughters; Grace Pia and Elaine Pia as well as her son Michael A. Pia Jr.  Her grandchildren, Melissa O’Keeffe, Nicole Boyko, Allison Pia, Kimberly Pia-Bartell, Michaella Bartell and Michael Bartell.  She has 8 great grandchildren.

 

Family and friends may call at Lacerenza Funeral Home, 80 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902 on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 from 9:00 to 10:00 am. There will be a prayer service following visitation.  Interment will follow at St John’s Catholic Cemetery, 25 Camp Avenue, Darien, CT 06820.
