Obituary of Vincent Caporizzo
Vincent Caporizzo (known to all as Vinny) passed away peacefully at Stamford Hospital on Thursday, March 15, 2018. He was born in Stamford on December 17, 1946 and was the son of Alphonsina and Guido (Tom) Caporizzo.
Vinny graduated from Rippowam High School and was in the Army for two years. He had a plumbing and heating business for 23 years and then worked for the City of Stamford as a building inspector for 20 years. He retired in 2012. He was known for his great sense of humor and was loved by all.
Vinny’s love of airplanes led him to get his pilot’s license when he left the army. He also loved radio controlled planes and was a member of the New Canaan Radio Club. Vinny loved to go to on vacation to many Caribbean islands and to Cancun. At one time, before health problems, he was an avid scuba diver.
He was a member of the Glenbrook Athletic Club, Springdale Athletic Club, the Elks Club 899 and the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by Sherryl, his wife of 33 years, his sister, Anita Deane, of Monroe, CT and his brother, Thomas Caporizzo and his wife JoAnn of Overland Park, KS. He is also survived by 2 nieces, Tricia Cavallaro, and Kristi Deane, both of Monroe, CT and 2 great nieces and 2 great nephews. He was close to a stepson, Robert (Bobby) Kordsiemon, Jr. and his wife Laura. Vinny was often in touch with their 5 children, their spouses and 9 great grandchildren.
A Memorial Gathering will be held for Vinny from 4 to 7 PM on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902.
