Obituary of Jenny Aniello
She loved being surrounded by her family
Jenny Aniello, 96, formally Altieri, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2018. Jenny was born in Stamford, CT on January 15, 1922 to Anna Maria and Giuseppe Alteri.
The fourth of six children, she grew up in Stamford and graduated from Stamford High School. Jenny was an advid athlete and played baseball as a catcher. She loved baseball and proudly rooted for the New York Yankees. Later on in life she participated locally on competitive duckpin bowling teams.
Her greatest passion was in the creative fields. Jenny was an impressive artist having a keen eye for detail in her artwork, which paralleled her fine eye as a talented seamstress. Her drawing skills were extraordinary.
After the death of her first husband, Frank Galluzzo, Jenny worked for many years as a single mother, raising her daughter. In all she worked as an executive secretary for over forty years and finished her career with the F.D. Rich Company.
In 1970, she found great happiness with her husband Joseph Aniello to whom she remained married for over 47 years. They both enjoyed vacationing, especially their annual fall trip to Vermont to enjoy the foliage. Jenny was a wonderful cook and took great pride in entertaining family and friends in her meticulous home.
Jenny is survived by her husband, Joseph Aniello of Stamford, CT, her daughter, Jo-Anne and son-in-law, Maurice O'Mahony of Greenwich, CT. She is also survived by by her grandchildren, Jim and Amanda O'Mahony of Oneida, NY, and Alison Cmiel of Greenwich, CT; as well as her great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Peter Alteri, Susan Bongo, Canio Alteri, Pauline Alteri, and Salvatore Alteri.
Calling hours are on Monday, April 2, from 4:00pm-7:00pm at the Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Ave. Stamford, CT 06902. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 3 at 10:30am, at Sacred Heart Church, 8 Schuyler Ave. Stamford, CT 06902.
