Obituary of Nicholas D. DeVito

Nicholas Dominick DeVito, 61, passed away peacefully at home on March 31, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. Nick was born in Stamford on August 10, 1956 to Connie DeBlasi and Dominick DeVito. In addition to his adoring mother, Nick is survived by his loving wife Gina (nee Vallone), beloved children Nicholas [Sarah], Gene, and Gina Marie, his devoted sisters MaryAnn [Jim] Choquette, Donna [Fred] Held, his supportive brother in law Anthony Vallone Jr., extended family and friends.  
 
The youngest of three children, Nick graduated from Stamford Catholic High School and the University of Connecticut. “Nickybulbs” spent a 28 year career with Sylvania Lighting. Nick was an outstanding athlete, and a loyal fan of the New York Jets, New York Yankees and the UConn Huskies. Nick was passionate about his faith and family. He especially enjoyed watching his children participate in athletics.  He was a member of a small group bible study, a founder of the First Down Club at Trinity Catholic High School, a board member of the Italian Center Men’s Club, founder of FNL, owner of the infamous Jet Bus and winner of the 2008 NYJ tailgate challenge. Nick took great pride in entertaining his friends and family at his home.  

Calling hours are Wednesday April 4, from 4-8 PM at the Lacerenza funeral home, 8 Schuyler Ave. Stamford, CT 06902. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 5, at 11 AM, at Saint Gabriel Church, 914 Newfield Ave. Stamford, CT 06905 (behind Trinity Catholic High School). Burial will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, 124 Rock Rimmon Rd. Stamford, CT 06903.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Nick’s memory to the First Down Club (c/o Mezzapelle Associates, 700 Canal Street, Stamford, CT 06902) or St. Gabriel Church.
