Obituary of CARL C. GALASSO JR.

Carl C. (Collie) Galasso Jr. passed away peacefully on January 7, 2016. Born on March 24, 1945, he was the son of Carl Galasso Sr. and Mildred D’Agostino. Carl grew up in Stamford, CT and attended Rippowam High School, class of 1963 where he excelled in both academics and sports especially weight lifting. He attended The University of Connecticut, Quinnipiac College and Norwalk Community College. He majored in English. He served in the Marine Corps. He worked for the city of Stamford and Birch Meadow Corporation. Carl is survived by his mother and father and sisters and brothers-in-law, Angela Galasso (Donald Hartman) Stamford, CT, Jacqueline Schonberg (Peter), Norwalk, CT and Lucy Galasso (Dr. Alan McCollom), Bedford, NY. He is also survived by nieces Torrie Marie Hartman, Gena Galasso Russo (Brian Russo), nephews Jordan Galasso McCollom (Tracy McCollom) and Steven Schonberg, and grandnephews Logan Carl Russo, Reid William Russo, Owen James McCollom and one grandniece, Leah Grace McCollom. He was also preceded in death by Ruth Reeves, his long time companion. Carl is best known for his culinary skills. He was adept at preparing gourmet meals and baked delicacies. He enjoyed listening to opera, especially such masters as Enrico Caruso and Mario Lanza. He generously supported children in Africa. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed surprising them with unexpected gifts. Contributions can be made to The American Heart Association. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 11, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park, Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford.
