Obituary of JOHN J. GOLINO
John Joseph (Butch) Golino, 87, of Stamford, CT, passed away peacefully at Stamford Hospital on January 3, 2016.
John, better known as “Butch” to family and friends was born in Stamford, CT to the late Cecelia Sorbo Golino and Antonio Golino on February 25, 1928. He graduated from Stamford High School in 1946. He served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953 with an honorable discharge and belonged to the VFW Post 9617. John was an avid Yankees and Giants fan. John worked as a Maintenance Forman for Pitney Bowes for 35 years. He also coached the company’s softball team and sang in their talent shows, but his most precious time was spent with his family and friends. No matter what sport his grandchildren played Pop was always in the stands to cheer them on. He was their number one fan and never missed a game. John is predeceased by his brothers Patrick, Joseph, Antonio, and Peter Golino. Also his sisters Rose Mecca, Madeline Ceci, Nancy Perone and Patricia (Tootsie) Whitehead, and Son-in-law Keith Bellantoni. John is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Mary Gentile Golino. Three daughters, Rita Bellantoni of Norwalk, Cecelia Pelazza and husband Mark of Stamford, Tina Cosentino and husband Frank of Norwalk, six grandchildren Rocco and John Bellantoni, Mark and Jenna Pelazza, Nicole and Frank Cosentino.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 8th, 2016, at 11:30 at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. Johns Cemetery, 25 Camp Ave, Darien, CT. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements were made by the Lacerenza Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford.
