Anne Longo

Obituary of Anne Longo

Anne Genovese Longo, age 61, passed away peacefully on the morning of October 1st, 2018, at Calvary Hospital in New York City, after a courageous 13-month battle with cancer. Born January 12, 1957, Anne was the second child to the late James D. & Eleanor Aliterno Genovese, in Stamford CT. A graduate of Stamford High, she resided in Vestal NY for the last 29 years but remained strongly tied to her hometown. As an avid antiques collector she had a knack for warming a home with her collectables, not to mention her stories, crafts, and cooking. She was also the proud owner of a cherry red '57 Ford Thunderbird. Her extensive creativity was seen throughout many projects including her stained glass creations, passion for gardening, and love of holiday decorating. For many years her house in Vestal was known around town & on the local news as being the best decorated for Halloween. Anne was also incredibly passionate about her family and its roots. For 23 years she was dedicated to researching the history of her Italian ancestors, which produced a massive collection of tales, archives, and photos. She also was a member of the Stamford Historical Society. A devoted mother, friend, sister, daughter, cousin, and pet owner, Anne selflessly gave endless love & time to those close to her. She is survived by her beloved children Michele and Jimmy Longo; sister & brother-in-law Carol Genovese and Steve McDonald; nephew Shawn Kapitan & his family; closest friends Donna-Marie Manasseh & Brian Jones; and many other close family & long-time friends. A sincere thank you to all the dedicated doctors & nurses that cared for her during this last year. A memorial service & burial of her cremains is planned for spring 2019 in Stamford CT, where we will celebrate her life during the season of rebirth & growth.
