Obituary of Ralph Prizio

Ralph Prizio, 96, a longtime Stamford resident who immigrated from the town of San Mango sul Calore in Avellino, Italy to live the American dream passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2018 .He was born July 29, 1922 to John and Elisa (Conforti) Prizio.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Mary (Giannitti) Prizio; his sister Elisa Pavia and husband Anthony; daughter Marisa Catino and husband Tommaso; daughter Nancy O'Neill and husband Thomas; grandchildren Anthony, Thomas, Lauren, Thomas Richard, Christina and Jay. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother Rick Prizio and a son John A. Prizio.

Ralph became a tailor apprentice in Italy and after honing his trade,came to America. Together with his wife, they owned and operated Prizio Tailoring on Summer Street in Stamford for over 34 years. He was equally known by his customers for his conscientiousness and character as well as for the quality of his hand-tailored alterations.

Never forgetting what truly mattered in life, Ralph was a devoted Catholic, family man and the embodiment of the traditions and culture of his old country. His homemade tomato sauce and wine accompanied many dinners with his children and grandchildren in which every occasion brought out his sense of humor and storytelling with that
special sparkle in his eyes. His love of gardening, Yankee baseball and opera also brought him great joy.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 12 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 13 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Stamford, CT. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in Stamford, CT.
