Obituary of EDITH YORFINO
Edith Yorfino (Babe), 93, passed away peacefully at Stamford Hospital on December 15, 2015.
Edith was born in Stamford, CT on August 2nd, 1922 to her late parents, James Vincent Scarano and Mary Teresa (Fiore) Scarano. She was predeceased by her husband, Dominick J. Yorfino, Sr. (Buddy), her six siblings, Joe and wife Eugenia, George and wife Margaret, Frank and Helen Scarano, Faustie and husband Nicholas Papallo and Santa and husband Lou Mazza. She was also predeceased by her nieces and nephews, John Papallo, Joan Grodzicki, and Angela (DeNicola) Verrastro.
Edith was a machinist during WWII and several years after. In later years, Edith worked for several corporations in the foodservice industry. She also volunteered in rehabilitation centers and other charitable organizations, most recently with the Columbiettes. She was very passionate about donating to animal organizations and charities. She was a die-hard Yankees fan.
Edith is survived by her two loving children; her daughter Terry Sweeney and her husband, Kevin Sweeney; her son Dominick J. Yorfino, Jr. and his wife, Cheryl Yorfino, as well as her three devoted grandchildren, Matthew Sweeney, C.J. Yorfino and Lindsey Yorfino. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Marion DeNicola and her husband Pat DeNicola (Skippy) and her sister-in-law, Doris Scarano and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday December 21st, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. Leo's Catholic Church, 24 Roxbury Road, Stamford, CT 06902. Interment will take place in private. Relatives and friends may call at the Lacerenza Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT on Sunday, December 20th, 2015 from 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM.
