Obituary of Edward Joseph Shura

Edward Joseph Shura, 78, devoted husband of 51 years to Donna Young Shura, passed away after a brief, unexpected illness at Yale New Haven Hospital on January 27, 2019.  He was born and lived most of his life in Greenwich, CT, save for the last 18 years when he resided in Stamford, CT.  Immediately out of high school he worked at the Ruwe Pencil Company until the mid-1980s, and then for the Town of Greenwich.  He worked first at GHS and then at Cos Cob School, where he particularly enjoyed interacting with the children, until his retirement in 2009.  He was a member of the Teamsters Local 456 and was an avid fan of car racing and do-wop. Besides his devotion to his family and grandchildren, he enjoyed boating and gardening.  He is survived by his wife Donna, sons Edward and Michael, sister Nancy Neilsen, sister-in-law Harriet Plateroti, daughter-in-law Renata, and grandchildren William and Zofia.

Visiting hours will be on Saturday, February 9, from 1-3 PM, with a brief memorial service at 2pm, at Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT.  In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Edward may be made to The Dale Jr. Foundation at www.thedalejrfoundation.org.
