Obituary of FRANCESCO VIVONA
Francesco "Nonno" Vivona, 92, of Stamford, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday November 14, 2015 at Stamford Hospital.
Born in Dasa, Catanzaro, Calabria, Italy on June 2, 1923 to the late Giuseppe and Catena (Schiavello) Vivona, Francesco was a World War 2 Veteran who fought for Italy and was a Prisoner of War from September 1943 to May 1945. Francesco emigrated from Italy to Argentina in February 1949 where he met his beautiful bride, Elena (Tallarico) Vivona. Francesco again immigrated in September 1969, this time to the United States, where he worked as an orthopedic shoemaker. He was also employed by Pitney Bowes. His passions were playing music and loving his family. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his loving wife, Elena Vivona. He is survived by his loving son, Jose Vivona, and his wife Elizabeth; his loving daughter Alicia Liliana Labrosciano. Also surviving, his grandsons, Michael Labrosciano and Jessica, of Milford, CT, Dennis Labrosciano and Melissa, of Ridgefield, CT, Sergio Labrosciano and Morgan of Stamford; granddaughters Michelle Vivona, and Lauren Vivona, both of Stamford; Great-Grandfather to Stella and Sebastian Labrosciano, of Ridgefield, CT. He is also survived by a sister, Francesca Villegas, of Buenos Aires, Argentina; many nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends. Francesco will be remembered for his love and devotion to his family as a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Darien, CT. Relatives and friends may call at the Lacerenza Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM.
