Obituary of FRED A. ROBERTUCCI

Fred A. Robertucci, 92 of Trumbull, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday November 14, 2015. Fred was born on April 2, 1923 in Stamford to the late Joseph and Mary Parella Robertucci. He was raised and resided in Stamford until moving to Trumbull in 1988. Fred is predeceased by his beloved wife, Catherine Robertucci. He leaves behind a daughter Patricia Ganino and son-in-law Michael of Bridgeport and a son, Fred and daughter-in-law Betty of Orlando, FL. In addition, Fred is survived by his grandchildren, Michael Ganino and his wife Gloria, Catherine Sommer and her husband Ron, Christina Huydic and her husband Craig and Stacy Robertucci. His favorite times were spent with his nine great-grandchildren, Michael, Jonathan and Deanna Ganino, Christopher and Stefanie Sommer, Craig Jr. and Christian Huydic and Isabella and Madison Alexander. Fred is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Grace Tambourine of Dallas, Texas and Nancy Montagnesi of Old Greenwich as well as several nieces and nephews. Fred is predeceased by his brothers, Peter and Joseph Robertucci and his sister Mary Louise Berg. Fred graduated from Stamford High School in 1941, Norwalk Community College in 1973 and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Iona College in 1975. Fred served in the U.S. Army in January of 1943 in the North Africa Campaign and the China-Burma-India Theater of War. He was proudly honorably discharged in 1946. He joined the Stamford Police Department in 1949 and served for twenty-eight years, retiring in 1977 with the rank of Sergeant. He was an Inspector in the Division of Criminal Justice for the State of Connecticut for the State Chief Attorney Office. Fred will be remembered by so many as “Gramps.” He was so proud of his family, his Country and his service as well as his Italian heritage. He loved his time as part of the Retired Police, Knights of Columbus, Stamford Senior Babe Ruth Baseball League and the Stamford Old Timers attending the annual dinners and enjoying every moment of them. His favorite term of endearment for those he loved was simply “Babe.” The family would like to offer special and sincere thanks to the professionals at Compassionate Care Companions, especially Widelyne and Kerece as well the entire staff at Grasmere Adult Day Center in Fairfield. Calling hours will be Tuesday November 17th from 4-8pm at Lacerenza Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8 Schuyler Avenue in Stamford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday November 18th at St. Gabriel Church, 914 Newfield Avenue, Stamford at a time to be announced. Burial will be at St John’s Catholic Cemetery, 25 Camp Avenue Darien immediately thereafter. A memorial mass is also being planned for St. Theresa Church in Trumbull and will announced as the time is set. Donations can be made in Fred’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
