Obituary of MARGARET IDA DIDONATO
Surrounded by her loving family, Margaret (Margie) peacefully entered into the Kingdom of the Lord at the age of 90 on October 22, 2015, after a brief illness.
Margie was born in Stamford, CT on August 16, 1925, to the late Vito and Rosemarie (Gerardi) Longo. Margie was the wife of the late Anthony Joseph DiDonato.She is survived by her daughters,Patricia and Howard Dufine, Annette and Ricky Velanzon, and sons, Santo and Lisa DiDonato, Anthony DiDonato and Peter DiDonato. Grandchildren, Jeffrey and Jennifer Dufine, Jennifer and Joseph Desmond, Ricky Velanzon, Christine and Jacob Cummings, Angela and Joseph Colabella, Jaclyn DiDonato, Jainee DiDonato and Peter John DiDonato, as well as six great grandchildren, Allyson, Diane, Lucas, Valerie, Katelyn, and Bianca.Also surviving are sisters, Carmella (Millie) Terenzio and Catherine Longo, brother Carmine and Lucille Longo, and many nieces and nephews. Margie was predeceased by her husband, Anthony and brothers, Frank, Gerald, Walter, Joseph, and William Longo.Margie loved spending time with her family, cooking, entertaining, and playing bingo, bocce, and bowling.She worked in the Stamford Public School system for over 30 years, was an avid New York Football Giants fan, and loved arts and crafts. She looked forward to the annual “Longo” family picnic where she would make her legendary giambotta and pizza fritta, and sing along to the family favorite “Let Me Call You Sweetheart.” Margie will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
For those that wish to pay their respects to the family, calling hours will be Monday, October 26, from 3:00 p.m. –8:00 p.m. at Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Ave., Stamford, CT. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 27, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Schuyler Ave. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery, Darien.
