Obituary of ROSE CONETTA GALATRO
Heaven has a new angel, Rose Conetta Galatro passed away on Tuesday September 15, 2015 at her home with her family by her side. Rose was born the tenth of eleven children, to Pasquale and Rosa Pia Conetta on May 5, 1928. She would have celebrated her 67th anniversary to her husband, Vincent Galatro on Sunday September 20.
She was dedicated to her faith, praying the rosary every day. She looked forward to her visits from Father Joseph Gill, who gave her strength as she fought her struggle with illness.
She was a devoted wife, mother, a loving Grandma Rose, and a proud Grammy Rosie. She especially loved to cook for her family. She was so very happy to see her loves enjoying her lavish meals, which included the best soup and meatballs in the world. In December 2003, the Advocate ran a piece on Rose's 'Italian Traditions' featuring her love of cooking and family.
Rose and her husband enjoyed spending time at their home in Delray Beach, Florida. She kept her traditions there, as she enjoyed friends and visits from 'the kids.' Whether she was in Connecticut or Florida, she was focused on her walks, swimming and get togethers. She loved celebrations with family and friends.
Rose is survived by her loving family: husband Vincent; daughters Janet Deluca and husband Bob; and Gail Galatro; son, John and wife Maggie all of Stamford; daughter Patricia Mastrianna and husband Jeff of Wilton. Grandchildren Jenna DeLuca Rosen and husband Sean of Stamford; Vincent Galatro and wife Lindsay of Washington D.C., Kyle and Johnny Galatro of Stamford, Jeffrey, Michael and Jack Mastrianna of Wilton. Great-grandchildren Bobby and Molly Rosen of Stamford. Her Godson John Rubino of Stamford and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents, sisters Louise (Dom) Scappatura, Jennie (Frank) Baldassare, and Mary 'Dolly' (Anthony) Rubino; brothers Angelo (Mary), Michael (Phyllis), Vito (Marge), Pasquale 'Patsy' (Louise), Richard (Mildred), Anthony (Anna) and Dominick Conetta.
