Obituary of Deborah Ann Billone
After a brave, three year battle with cancer, Deborah Ann Mead Billone, 64, of Calabash NC, formerly of Norwalk CT, passed away peacefully on Nov. 27, 2017.
Born July 22, 1953 in Greenwich CT, Debbie graduated Norwalk High School in 1971 and worked for Pitney Bowes for more than 20 years before retiring in 2003 to Calabash NC with her husband of 34 years, Gerald (Jerry) Billone.
Debbie had an infectious love for life. She relished spending time with her family and many friends, and enjoyed traveling in the Caribbean.
In 1978, Debbie’s first husband, Joseph Hlavaty, died following a brief illness, leaving her a young widow with their two little girls, Jodi and Jamie. Debbie was also predeceased by her parents, David and Audrey Mead, and her stepson, Noah Billone.
In addition to her husband Jerry, Debbie is survived by her daughters Jodi Savarese, husband Joe, of Carolina Shores, NC, Jamie Scarfi, husband Fran, of Mahopac NY, and her step daughter Amanda Troy, husband Ed, of Centerbrook CT, and her six grandchildren whom she adored, Julia & Joey Savarese, Dominic, Charlotte and Roman Scarfi, and Tommy Troy.
Debbie is also survived by her siblings Karen Coughlan of Calabash, NC, David Mead, wife Greta, and Robin Ryan, husband Tom, all of Trumbull, CT, and a niece and two nephews.
Family and Friends may call at Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Ave, Stamford CT on Monday Dec. 4, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 PM. The Funeral Service will be held Tuesday Dec. 5, 2017 at 10:00 AM St. Catherine of Sienna Church, 4 Riverside Ave, Riverside CT. followed by burial at St. Mary's cemetery, Greenwich CT.
