Obituary of Joseph D Bove

It is with great sadness that we announce that Joseph Bove, Jr. passed away peacefully on May 10, 2018 at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, FL at the age of 79 years old. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Bove, Sr. and mother, Mary (Orlando) Bove.

Joe, as he was called, was born in Greenwich, CT on August 28, 1938. He graduated from Greenwich High School where he played four years of varsity baseball and golf and three years of varsity basketball. His abilities earned him an athletic scholarship to Fairmont State University where he studied business while playing guard on the basketball team, captain of the golf team and vice president of his freshman class. After college, Joe was not only a business man with a love of the stock market, he became a PGA Golf Pro working and owning various golf courses in the tri-state area. He then moved to the Albany, NY area where he owned and operated 3 golf courses for the last 31 years. As a PGA pro, Joe played along with and taught many legends such as Mickey Mantle, Ed Sullivan, Joey Bishop, Arthur Ashe amongst others.  Joe was a sports enthusiast and was honored at the Greenwich Old Timers for sports. With his love of sports and children, he hosted various golf tournaments raising money for over 2,000 charitable events. In addition, he devoted much of his time to the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, an organization that was special to him.

Joe’s loved ones who will greatly miss him are the mother of his children and devoted friend, Alberta Bove, his daughter Jennifer (Bove) Titcomb and husband Shawn Titcomb, his son Todd Bove and grandsons, Zander and Jaden Titcomb, whom he loved unconditionally. His sisters, Phyllis (Bove) Morris and husband Pat Morris, Angela Bove, and nephews Patrick and Michael Morris, as well as numerous cousins and extended family in the Greenwich area. Joe also left behind three dear friends; Gene Merandi, Robert Smurlo and John DePrato, as well as his trusted employee for 30 years, Bernie Carrk.

Joe was a smart guy filled with so much wisdom and love for his family.  He always had a smile on his face and never looked at life in a fancy way. His legacy will live on through his beloved family.
